American Fund for Alternatives to Animal Research The mission of the American Fund for Alternatives to Animal Research AFAAR is to promote and assist in the development and use of alternatives to animals in all areas of science and science education. Incorporated in New York in 1977 AFAAR provides funding to develop validate and implement the use of alternatives to animals in research testing and education. AFAAR39s goal is to advance scientific methods that are more efficient efficacious and predictive of human responses than outdated and cruel animal experiments and testing. Millions of animals suffer in scientific biomedical industrial military agricultural cosmetic and other areas of research as well as in testing science education and training.
