"My eight-year-old daughter is currently attending her second year at Farm Camp. What has been obvious from the beginning is how special this camp truly is. From the moment a child arrives at camp, the warmth, kindness and inclusivity is apparent. Children are valued here, and it is easy to see that the staff enjoy working with them. My little girl, who sometimes struggles socially, comes home every day happily talking about the fun she had with her new friends. The skills my daughter has learned in a few short weeks are amazing! One morning, she asked to help me cut fruit. I watched as she expertly cut the stems off of strawberries, cut them in half, flipped them over, and sliced them like a pro. "Thanks, Farm Camp, " I heard her whisper to herself as she proudly looked at her work. A few days later, I listened as she explained to her grandmother how to plant, grow, and harvest different vegetables, who couldn't believe the amount of knowledge she had gained. Thanks to what she has been learning, my daughter has been willing to try different foods that she normally would not try: kale, tomatoes, salsa, and basil, to name a few. I want to thank the wonderful staff at Common Ground Farm Camp for providing my daughter a safe, accepting, and beautiful space where she has the opportunity to grow, develop self-confidence, and learn new skills while having a great time!
