The emergence of white morels signals we're near the end of mushroom season in Northern Michigan. Last week we toured AuSable River Scenic Preserve with members of Charter Township of Oscoda's public works staff as part of their Level 1 Invasive Species Training. We're working to equip community leaders with the tools to recognize and treat invasive species on the properties they manage, including invasive barberry growing on this 42-acre nature preserve in the heart of their city. By doing so, we can multiply our efforts to conserve and protect Northern Michigan's native ecosystems for wildlife and people.
