Last year, the women of Vumwe Designs voted unanimously to form a community-based organization (CBO) called Vumwe Wezesha. This name combines the Pare word “Vumwe” which means unity, and the Swahili word “wezesha” which means to enable or to empower. As a CBO, they be recognized by the Tanzanian government and have more autonomy to apply for grants and manage projects. We can't wait to see what the next chapter of these incredible women's story looks like.
