We celebrated our first Shabbat B'yachad of the year this morning! The ruach, energy, and love that filled the gym was palpable from our Kindergarten-8th grade families. What an amazing way to welcome Shabbat and see our community all together. As Dr. D mentioned in his remarks this morning, for the last month, the school has felt eerily quiet even with our summer comings and goings. This week we are celebrating! Mazel Tov to Maya Chun on her in school Bat Mitzvah this morning. There was such a special feeling in the Bet Tefilah marking our first celebration of the year. The enthusiasm and energy filled the room. Maya led with confidence and poise, chanted from the Torah beautifully, and shared her insightful d’var Torah with us illustrating empathy and heart. She pointed out that our experiences in life are meant to give us perspective and we should use that perspective to help those around us. As Ms. Ames spoke to Maya, she described her great sense of humor, her genuine thoughtfulness, and her kind heart. Based on that beautiful description of Maya’s nature, we could truly see how she embodies the lessons of the parsha.
