Some fun facts about 2025 Hall of Fame Inductee Robert Nimmons IV (SAHS Class of 1989). He was born and raised in West Augustine, where his journey in sales and marketing began at the age of eleven. In 1982, he became a paper boy for the St. Augustine Record, selling newspapers on the Bayfront in front of the Bridge of Lions. His dedication and work ethic were evident early on as he set numerous records, including most consecutive days worked, most newspapers sold in a single day, and becoming the first paper boy in history to sell over 100,000 newspapers. His final newspaper, sold in 1985, was placed in Ripley’s Believe It or Not. At SAHS from 1985 to 1989, Robert was a multi-sport athlete and active student. He played football as a tailback, strong back, punt returner, kick returner, and cornerback for the Fighting Yellow Jackets. In addition, he competed in track and field, weightlifting, basketball, and participated in JROTC and drama. He graduated in 1989, completing dual enrollment at the St. Augustine Vocational Center, now known as the First Coast Technical College. Robert has dedicated his life to the West Augustine community accumulating over 28,000 volunteer hours for such organizations such as West Augustine Redevelopment Agency (CRA), Economic Development Chair for the NAACP, board member for the Northeast Community Action Agency of North Florida, Habitat for Humanity, and the Fort Mose Historical Society. He is currently Vice President of West Augustine Youth Development and serves on the board of the West Augustine Historical CDC. His work has earned him numerous leadership awards and recognition for service to the West Augustine community. Robert is married to Kaneika Nimmons, and together they have six children and four grandchildren. His passion for community remains at the heart of his life. He lives by the motto: “It takes one person to change your life; miracles happen every day.” Alumni/Family/Friends are invited to celebrate Robert's induction dinner ceremony to the SA/KHS Hall of Fame on Sunday October 19th at The Black Molly Restaurant just over the 312 Bridge on Anastasia Island. Ticket information about this year's Hall of Fame Dinner is currently pinned on the site. (fb)
