Two different labs have now confirmed that the March 31 presumptive measles case that presented at our El Campo clinic is negative for the measles. Our providers made the presumptive diagnosis based on the patient’s presenting symptoms, which were consistent with measles. We followed state public health guidance based on those symptoms. With more than 420 confirmed measles cases in Texas, we urge our community to be aware of the symptoms, which include high fever; cough, runny nose, and watery eyes; and distinctive head-to-toe rash and to check their vaccination status and get vaccinated with the safe and effective MMR vaccine if not already. - Mid Coast Health System Administration (fb)
