Big news!!! Columbia's first ever protected bike lane is almost complete. The South Main project is just a few weeks from being done. They’re putting down thermo paint for parking, adding high-vis crosswalks, and installing South Carolina’s first ever bike boxes (more on that soon). And it’s not just a first for Columbia. It’s the first sidewalk-level bike lane in the entire state. That means it’s built at the same level as the sidewalk, separated from traffic by landscaping, but still lets people on bikes safely stop and access places along the street. It’s a smarter, safer design that makes this corridor more comfortable for everyone. This is real progress. Let’s keep going. (fb)
