ShelterCare's Peer Support Specialists just attended Peerpocalypse: a conference dedicated to peer support! They get the chance to meet other peers across the Pacific Northwest and attend workshops led by experts in the peer support field. Our peers are integral to the work we do at ShelterCare as they are a support person with lived experience who can walk alongside our program participants through their journey to stability. Shout out to our friends pictured here: Bo Brinson, Executive Director of Oregon Recovers and his wife Amber (Bo received the "Homegrown Peer of the Year" award for this year!), Doyal Smith, Executive Director of Dual Diagnosis Anonymous of Oregon, Inc., and Janie Gullickson, Executive Director of Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon.
