A diverse and mature tree canopy can amplify these advantages. However, many U. S. urban areas rely heavily on just a few tree species, making them vulnerable to pests & diseases. This lack of diversity risks losing the ecological benefits trees provide. Additionally, tracking all city trees is laborious and costly, leading many cities to have incomplete inventories that often focus only on street trees.
