Last week, we had the honor of welcoming Yvette Calderon, M.D., as the 2025 W. Kendall McNabney Lecture speaker. Calderon is a professor of emergency medicine, Sidney Kimmel Medical College Department Chair of Emergency Medicine and Jefferson Health System Leader for Emergency Medicine. Her lecture, “Advancing Health Equity in Emergency Medicine,” explored the history of healthcare disparities in the United States and the importance of confronting inequities in emergency care. Drawing from both research and personal experience, Calderon discussed how data can guide change and how small adjustments—such as improving triage processes or ensuring timely pain management—can make a meaningful difference for patients. We thank Calderon for sharing her expertise and for challenging us to continue working toward more equitable care for all. (fb)
