It’s an incredibly busy weekend here in Downtown Wytheville as we celebrate the kickoff to the 41st Annual Wythe Arts Council Chautauqua Festival. Friday, get outside with the Town of Wytheville Parks & Recreation’s Play All Day Program, including free admission to the Wytheville Community Center and McWane Pool, along with Scavenger Hunts, Yoga, Hikes, and a Glow in the Dark Party Night Swim at McWane Pool. Friday evening, come out to WCC for a vintage baseball match followed by the start of the Chautauqua Festival with the annual Balloon Glow. You can also grab a ticket to see Grammy-nominated Blues musician Eric Gales at The Millwald Theatre. Saturday morning, watch the Hot Air Balloon Rally, then join the Chautauqua 5k and Fun Run, followed by the Chautauqua Parade and a full day of arts and music. Also, stop by the Wytheville Farmers Market for their annual Dairy Day featuring free ice cream, cheese samples, children’s activities, and more. If you’re looking for some live music, you can find musicians throughout the days at Chautauqua along with performances by Kaitya Baker, Dan Fox, Deadman’s Hand, Wayne Dunford, Leslie Brooks Spin Out Trio, and an R&B Celebration at Seven Sisters Brewery, 7 Dogs Brewpub, Petals Wine Bar, and Graze on Main. In addition to all the great arts activities going on throughout the next week of Chautauqua, you can find craft workshops, trivia nights, game nights, brunch, yoga, SINGO, pottery workshops, jam sessions, free museum admission on Wednesdays, open mic, line dancing classes, and much more throughout the weekend and weeknights.
