Diné Community Development Corporation Submits Two Grant Proposals to Advance Navajo Youth and Agricultural Producers Tselani Springs, AZ — May 1, 2025 — The Diné Community Development Corporation (DCDC) is proud to announce the submission of two major grant proposals aimed at empowering Navajo youth and supporting the economic development of Navajo farmers, ranchers, and agripreneurs. These initiatives represent a bold step forward in revitalizing Indigenous agriculture, increasing access to capital, and promoting financial literacy across the Navajo Nation. The first proposal, the Diné Youth Agribusiness and Financial Literacy Program, is a comprehensive, hybrid workshop series targeting Native youth in multiple Navajo chapters. This program will deliver culturally relevant, hands-on training in farming techniques, agribusiness management, and financial literacy. The initiative aims to close educational gaps, inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders, and improve youth access to economic opportunities and capital. The second submission, the Diné Agricultural Grant Assistance Program (DAGAP), is a competitive regranting and technical assistance initiative supporting 85 Navajo agricultural enterprises. DAGAP is designed to assist socially disadvantaged and beginning Native farmers and ranchers by providing financial literacy training, technical assistance, mentorship, and direct grant funding. This program supports the Navajo Nation’s goal of achieving tribal self-sufficiency and economic sustainability through a diversified, job-generating private sector. “These proposals reflect DCDC’s ongoing commitment to empowering our people through culturally grounded programs that promote self-reliance, food sovereignty, and economic justice,” said Mr. Lorenzo Begay/Ph.D., Executive Director of DCDC. “We are investing in both our youth and our food producers to ensure that the next generation has the tools, knowledge, and resources to lead our communities forward.” If funded, these programs will significantly increase the capacity of Native youth and producers to manage successful agricultural ventures while addressing historic barriers to education and financial access. DCDC is dedicated to serving the Navajo Nation through visionary leadership, program innovation, and strategic partnerships.
