For years, Michigan’s special education funding system has been too complex, too inconsistent, and too disconnected from what students actually need. The MI Blueprint is our roadmap to change that. Built through a transparent, statewide process with educators, advocates, and families, the MI Blueprint lays out a fair, needs-based funding formula that better supports students with disabilities and helps schools plan and deliver services more effectively. MCYJ at a Glance The Michigan Center for Youth Justice MCYJ is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing policies and practices that reduce confinement and support traumainformed racially equitable socioeconomically and culturally responsive communitybased solutions for Michigans justiceinvolved children youth and young adults. Justice for Kids and Communities A monumental comprehensive juvenile justice reform package was just signed into law. This landmark legislation a result of recommendations from the Michigan Task Force on Juvenile Justice Reform aims to expand funding for communitybased care eliminate the majority of juvenile court fines and fees and expand the role of the Child Advocate to oversee investigations within juvenile justice facilities.
