Education is very important to us. This is why the “Albanian Faith in Every Footstep” Foundation has been helping students in Albania by loaning them laptops, so they can focus their energy on their studying and their progress. As everywhere the life of a student is hard and expensive. A lot of students in Albania struggle to provide enough income to cover all of the studying expenses, especially when it comes to schooling supplies like computers. “Albanian Faith in Every Footstep” Foundation has been able to help 10 students so far and is working on helping more. A heartfelt thank you to all who supported the Liri Como project in any way. We just posted the photos of the completed project. Check them out in our albums! Below is a report of the project: We are pleased to report the completion of the School project in Pogradec, Albania. The Albanian Faith in Every Footstep Foundation, in partnership with the City of Pogradec, the Lions Club of Pogradec, Mimoza Shuli and many volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints completed the needed remodeling of the Liri Como Kindergarten. It was a thrill to work with all the volunteers from the City, the Lions Club, the missionaries and so many local members who gathered to help. Together we were able to paint the entire school inside and out and clean up some mold areas in the classrooms. All of the old wood frames and broken windows were replaced with new aluminum framed windows – just in time for winter. We replaced the bathroom sinks, repaired broken doorways, cracked cement and did repairs throughout the building. The neglected landscaping outside was renewed with by weeding and planting of new bushes. The members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints painted the iron fences around the perimeter of the school and the school window bars. Moreover, the Church members moved and set up all the bunk beds and furniture. In all four school classrooms, the Foundation provided new bunk beds, mattresses and brightly colored tables and chairs for the 120 students. The greatest need our project provided was the wood-burning stoves. They were all installed by the Foundation to heat each classroom. The children were singing with excitement to finally have heat in their very cold cement building. Can you imagine being a small child at school, trying to learn while shivering in the cold, every day of the winter? What an incredible difference this has made to have heat in each classroom. We also supplied dozens of pairs of reading glasses to the Pogradec and Korce church branch members. All donations, financial, physical and material are making a big difference in the daily lives of 120 school children and their teachers. The students and the teachers can feel your love reaching halfway across the world helping Albanians that you have never met. This is Christ's love in action. (fb)
