Versatile actor Val Kilmer passed away of pneumonia on April 1st in Los Angeles, California. In 2015 Mr. Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer after noticing a lump in his throat in 2014. He was found to be cancer free after treatment with radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and a procedure on his trachea. However, his health apparently suffered from ongoing side effects of the cancer treatments. Pneumonia is more common among those with a history of treatment for head and neck cancers. (fb)
