As the school year comes to a close, we dedicate this #ServiceHeroSunday to Secretary Patrick Tutwiler. 🧡💙Secretary Tutwiler’s dedication to educational excellence and access began with a book. As a student at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, he was moved by Jean Anyon’s Ghetto Schooling, which detailed the systemic barriers to excellence in urban education. Dr. Tutwiler found his calling — to provide educational excellence and access for every child, every where, every day. Dr. Tutwiler has pursued this mission as thought leader, innovator, and relentless advocate for excellence, equity, and educational investment He served as principal at Wayland High School, Headmaster at Brighton High School, and Superintendent of the Lynn Public Schools. As our Secretary of Education, Dr. Tutwiler is the architect of the Commonwealth’s vision for public education, spanning early childhood education through college. His daily mission is forthright: “to build a foundation for our students, so they can realize their dreams, maximize their potential, and define their own path forward.” The Secretary Patrick Tutwiler Service Hero Team is led with excellence by AMC Andrew Fleischmann of Mansfield.
