Here are a few easy ways to help your pets have a stress-free and safe night: • 𝗡𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝘀. Chocolate and sugar-free candy containing xylitol (also called Birch Sugar) can be toxic. Keep treats out of reach. • 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲. Trick-or-treating and constant doorbells can be overwhelming. Give pets a quiet room to relax. • 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. If your pet is dressing up, make sure the costume fits comfortably and doesn’t block movement, breathing, or vision. • 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆. If guests or door knocks cause stress, it may help to keep your pet in a separate room. • 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿. Candles, cords, faux cobwebs, and small décor items can be tempting but dangerous if chewed or knocked over. Thanks to generous pet food and supply donations from Greater Good Charities and Chewy, and with coordination support from our friends at the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies, we’ve been able to continue helping rescues, shelters, and sanctuaries all across Virginia. This month, our team also supported: • Green Dogs Unleashed with their community vaccine clinic in Fluvanna • The SPCA of Pittsylvania County during their 4th Annual Pupapalooza festival Every donation we receive helps keep pets fed, healthy, and safe; which helps families who may be going through difficult seasons care for the animals they love.
