Unleash epidemiologys power to improve the publics health In 2018 the CSTE Foundation CSTEF was established to address critical funding shortages at the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists CSTE and support their mission to develop expand and diversify the epidemiology workforce. Applied Epidemiologists at the state and local level are the publics disease detectives. We rely on them to safeguard our health as they respond rapidly to emergencies such as COVID19 anthrax measles Zika virus West Nile virus the opioid epidemic gun violence multistate foodborne illnesses and natural disasters. Their work eliminates or limits disease transmission every day and prevents disease disability injury and premature death.
