Angela Childers, Community Paramedic in Caswell County, discussed men's health at today's (May 28) Vet Connect in Yanceyville. "When it comes to men's health, or health in general, self-awareness is the key," Childers said. "I know you've heard it a lot - but everything in moderation. When it comes to meals, be aware of your meals and how they average out - let the highest percentage of foods be the healthiest items." Veterans' needs, she said, are often more complex than civilians' needs. "You all have done so much for our country that it's important you reach out if you have questions or concerns for your health," Childers added. As community paramedic, "my goal is to keep people out of the hospital," she said. "Education is key and I will attend doctor office visits with patients." Thanks to a grant from the Danville Institute of Advanced Learning and Research, this program is free. "I have patients from 6 months old to 104," she said. "The goal is to help the overall health of Caswell County residents." Breakfast today was provided by Caswell Central Ruritan Club. The Yanceyville meeting, presented by AuthoraCare Collective, takes place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month (January through October) at the Caswell County Senior Center, 649 Firetower Rd., Yanceyville.
