Today, Holy Child Charity gave 7 laptops to our scholarship winners! School laptops are issued at the beginning of the school year, but the students had to return them before graduating so we quickly ordered for them to have a laptop during the summer to prepare for college! 💻 This year is Holy Child Charity’s 9th year awarding scholarships to underserved students at Westbury High School. We have awarded $55K since our inception! These students face many hardships, challenges and obstacles; but they continue to persevere. This year, the need was great and we interviewed 7 seniors students from Honduras, Guadalajara, El Salvador and Guatemala City. All of them will be the first in their family to attend college!! On one of the interviews, I was so touched the student started to tear up when she talked about making her mom proud. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 What a joy to meet these students to understand their journey and award the following total of $10K scholarships! Besides a laptop, I asked my friend Renu if she could gather up some teen clothing and within a couple days she and her friends gave me bags of clothes, several were name brand with tags! The students had fun picking out clothes for themselves and their families.
