Typically, for Mission Moments we talk about the extraordinary lengths team members have taken to support and care for our patient, organization or visitors. Today, our mission and core values extended beyond these walls and institution. The life of first responders is unique much like the family-like culture they create; where people are more than co-workers, and that culture is recognized and respected between other towns and cities’ departments. The core value of kindness and the culture of the first responder family was evident from our Reno County EMS team when the Butler County EMS crew faced the sudden loss of a well-respected member of their department. Without hesitation, Dave Johnston and team facilitated aid for the Butler crew which included coverage during the ceremony, taking their 911 calls, and making sure the “Honor Watch” was fully executed. In this instance living out our mission doesn’t even involve our own community, but exemplifies the character of people and leaders we have working for HRHS and Reno County. For their kindness and willingness to extend their own people to aid in healing during another departments time of loss, is why we are recognizing the Reno County EMS team as this month’s Mission Moment.
