Hubb’s Beaked Whale Articulation Workshop September 15-20, 2025 Day one of the Hubb’s beaked whale articulation workshop is underway. The Noyo Center collections and tech team is joined by staff from California Academy of Sciences, along with NC science advisors and volunteers, to begin to assemble this rare skeleton. Today began with a discussion about possible poses for the specimen, and strategizing the approach to dealing with broken or missing bones, including the use of 3D printing technology to re-construct the rostrum(the hard, beak-like structure projecting out from the head). The workshop will continue all week, and the field station is open to the public each day from 1-4pm. We hope you will stop in for a look at this fascinating project.
