Rescue operations continue throughout Kunar province. Many of the homes built in the rural areas of the affected provinces are made of mud bricks and stone and thus, were not able to sustain the vigorous tremors caused by the shallow strike of the earthquake at a depth of 8km (5 miles). Our team, in partnership with Afghan Wireless, is on the field, working day and night to help affected families. The injured are being transported for emergency treatment, and our ambulances and medical teams are providing critical first aid. Devastating scenes around Eastern Afghanistan as more victims of last night's tragic disaster are being found. Prayers are continuously being read around the province for those who have passed.
