Caitlin Pham, 2025 Young Women in Leadership Award Recipient from the Zonta Club of Yakima Valley Caitlin is a senior at West Valley High School. She was selected for her leadership and service to others. Caitlin is serving her second year as the Area 10 President of Washington DECA. There are 13 schools in her area. DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in Marketing, Finance, Hospitality and Management. Nicole Cowan, State Officer Leadership Coach, says it best, “Caitlin leads with a courageous heart, an open mind and is a driving force of positive change, especially in her contributions to each community she finds herself in.“ Caitlin earned the title of DECA Western Region Member of the Month. This award was given to one member out of DECA’s Western Region of 49,063 members. During Caitlin’s sophomore year, she was one of 15 students selected throughout Washington State to participate in the Washington World Fellows program, a global leadership and college preparation program. Amy Ubungen, Director of Programming, states, “What is most admirable about Caitlin is not just her accomplishments, but the humility and kindness she carries with her. Despite her successes and accolades, she remains grounded and approachable. She is respected and admired by her peers, supervisors, and teachers alike, fostering an environment of support and encouragement wherever she goes.” Caitlin plans to attend a four-year university to study business/economics and Spanish. After college she intends to return to Yakima and start a non-profit for families, especially those with children, to receive help in overcoming the socioeconomic gap that has been so critically ingrained in our society.
