Benedictine Sisters of Virginia

Benedictine Monastery, Church & Community | BSV

A community of religious women living the Rule of St. Benedict, searching for GOD together & ministering to the needs of the Church in Virginia since 1868. The Benedictine Sisters of Virginia are called to seek God in Community through Prayer and Ministry Because we, the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia, believe in the sacredness of all creation, we claim monastic stewardship as our corporate witness.  As a community of monastic women with a contemplative vision, we are impelled to preserve, cherish and nurture all that is touched by the Creator's hand.  Out of our sense of reverence, hospitality and responsibility we commit ourselves to conserving, using and sharing our gifts, resources and heritage.

Benedictine Sisters of Virginia Benedictine Sisters of Virginia Statement regarding Immigration Endorsed by the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia In the spirit of the Gospel and the inspiration of St. Benedict we as members of the Conference of Benedictine Prioresses CBP representing more than 1100 sisters commit ourselves to Christlike hospitality. Therefore we call upon our leaders especially governors state legislators members of the United States Congress and our president to reconsider proposed immigration policies and to work towards solutions that uphold the dignity and rights of all people. We urge them to create pathways to citizenship for immigrants provide humane treatment for those in detention and ensure that immigrant families are not torn apart.
