We charge $0.49/lb for electronics (smoke detectors: flat-rate $15), and $2.29/lb for rechargeable batteries ($4.99/lb if structurally damaged or unlabeled). All proceeds help fund our nonprofit's service programs! Rechargeable batteries that are improperly stored are a HUGE fire risk! They account for around 5,000 fires per year - about 1,500 of which are house fires. To minimize risk with batteries that are no longer in use, discharge as much of their charge as possible, securely cover their terminals (the metal parts that connect the battery to the device) with strong tape like packing or electrical tape, and do not store them for long periods! Over time, even sedentary batteries can begin the chemical reactions that cause battery fires to ignite. The Good News?! We're now offering rechargeable battery recycling for batteries under 300Wh in power! That means batteries from things like laptops, cell phones, power tools, cordless vacuums/other appliances, and much more. Please note: 1. ONLY rechargeable batteries are accepted.
