Global Oceans

US-based nonprofit designed to mobilize private-sector resources and MARV vessels for ocean science & exploration worldwide. Global Oceans is a US-based nonprofit designed to bring together scientists and public-sector resources around projects that will have a transformative impact on understanding and protecting our ocean & planet. The mission of Global Oceans is to cost-effectively increase capacity to conduct research throughout the world’s oceans by mobilizing chartered ships, modular facilities, and logistics support from the commercial maritime sector; and to bring together ocean scientists around projects where collaboratively leveraging this capacity will accelerate scientific understanding and better enable conservation of our ocean planet.

Overview Projects Global MARVs News Events About Contact More Exploring Deep Sea Biodiversity Seamount Ecosystems and the Coupled OceanAtmosphere of the Arctic Ocean The scale of human activity across our planet continues to impact the health of our ocean. Environmental stressors stemming from climate change overfishing plastic and chemical pollution and resource extraction are resulting in ocean acidification eutrophication and biodiversity loss. These impacts are complex and dynamic and changes are occurring faster than we can measure and understand them. To undertake meaningful action to change direction and to inform the development of sustainable resource policies and conservation solutions we need to accelerate our scientific understanding of the ocean at all scales and dimensions from local to global impacts from the atmosphere to the polar regions to the deep sea and of rates of change over time.
