Shoreline Community Services is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the unmet needs of unsheltered individuals and families in the Central Beach Area of San Diego. Mission and Objectives
The primary focus of Shoreline Community Services is to support vulnerable populations by providing connections to existing resources and services, thus helping them achieve self-sufficiency. This is accomplished through a range of intentional programs aimed at fostering community relationships and responding to urgent social challenges.
Programs and Initiatives
- The Compass Station: A drop-in resource center designed for unhoused individuals, offering services necessary for them to begin their journey off the streets.
- Volunteer Community Outreach: Trained volunteers engage with unsheltered individuals, building relationships and providing access to necessary resources.
- Medical Respite Hotel Program: Coordinates temporary accommodations for medically fragile individuals recovering from hospital stays, offering safety and comfort.
- Community Care Crew: A transitional employment program providing paid work opportunities, case management, career counseling, and temporary workforce housing for unhoused individuals.
Partnerships
Shoreline Community Services collaborates with a variety of community partners, including governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and local businesses. Notable partners include the County of San Diego Behavioral Health Services, Family Health Centers, PATH, Think Dignity, and the Veterans Administration. These collaborations facilitate access to resources such as housing, healthcare, and addiction recovery services.
