Holyoke Preservation Trust is pleased to announce Bob Comeau’s informative 1-hour tour on September 6th of Belchertown’s Rural Cemetery (aka Coleman Dark Corner Cemetery), founded in the 19th century. Rural Cemetery is a peaceful resting place that reflects the town’s deep history. The tour will highlight local history and notable burials of Belchertown families, veterans, early settlers and why the cemetery gained the name of Coleman Dark Corner. Holyoke Preservation Trust is pleased to announce Bob Comeau’s informative 2-mile tour of the Chicopee Center Canal System and its neighborhood on August 30th. Many of us frequently drive by the Chicopee canals and look at the flowing water without really taking a moment to really look at this wonderful and important system. Not only will you learn about the Chicopee canal system with its mills but also about the mill owners and the workers. This free event is sponsored by the Chicopee Cultural Council. (fb)
