Within moments, the area turned into a scene of chaos and fear as civilians scrambled for safety. Moti Bukchin, ZAKA Spokesman, shared from the site: “The sights are shocking and heartbreaking. In just seconds, the junction became a battlefield. Sadly, we are here to ensure the victims are treated with dignity. Missing Person Found Safe in Ashdod 🙏🏻 This afternoon, ZAKA’s Missing Persons Unit in Ashdod, together with Ashdod Police, launched a wide search for an 80-year-old resident suffering from dementia who had gone missing from his home since the morning. The man, last seen wearing a black shirt, jeans, and Velcro shoes, was considered at high risk as the hours passed. Police issued a public alert, and extensive searches were carried out in the sand dune areas. After hours of searching, the missing man was safely located by ZAKA volunteer Meir Pshdanovek, from the Ashdod Jeep Unit, using his ATV to scan the area. Volunteer shared: “When I heard about the disappearance, I immediately set out with my ATV to search the dunes. Not long after, I spotted him sitting alone. Thank God we found him alive and well. For us volunteers, this is the greatest reward.” Commander of ZAKA Lachish Region: “Thank God this case ended with a safe recovery. I want to thank Ashdod Police for their rare level of cooperation with ZAKA—truly exemplary.
