Ghana and Niger Global Baptist Training Foundation continues the march toward covering all of Africa! In September Fidele Shinga, GBTF African Director, has confirmed classes will begin in Ghana. In October, Niger will be the site of a new class! Watch for pictures and reports from these countries in coming weeks. Meanwhile, our national trainers continue to hold classes in countries like Tanzania. Hezron, GBTF Tanzania trainer, is holding quite a few smaller classes in rural areas. We are thankful for his diligence to reach some of the difficult-to-reach areas. Global Baptist Training Foundation national trainers also recently completed classes in Eastern Rwanda. While training is our primary mission, church planting is also an integral part of the GBTF mission. In 2024, 455 new churches were planted by GBTF-trained pastors. This year, to date, we have 342 new churches started. A group of new church plants are beginning this month. We will report on those soon. As well, we continue to build and repair buildings throughout Africa so that these trained nationals can move forward in building new churches. This building in Uganda was severely damaged during rainy season. We can now report that the building repairs are nearing completion. Thanks to our generous GBTF donors, we have just sent the final amount needed for final repairs. Evangelizing South Sudan We remember just four years ago when a pastor from South Sudan heard about Global Baptist Training Foundation classes being held in Uganda. So, he traveled to attend. At the end of the week, this pastor stood up and passionately thanked GBTF for bringing this training that empowered nationals to more effectively minister in the nations where God had called them! Sudan is in the news as we write this, and South Sudan is where the people are fleeing the war in the north. Fast forward four years, not only has Pastor Samuel completed all of the GBTF training (all 14 courses), but he has also completed trainer training and is, indeed, training other pastors and church leaders in South Sudan. He is, in fact, the Global Baptist Training Foundation South Sudan Coordinator. He is also doing difficult village evangelism. The entire village usually comes out to have some rice, to receive clothes (GBTF donors have given the funds to buy pallets of clothes for these South Sudanese refugees), and to hear the gospel! Pastor Samuel eats rats and loves them! He has now overseen the construction of a building for one of the church plants that was funded through GBTF partners. He is now overseeing a GBTF-donor funded well (the first of three) to bring desperately needed water to the area. We have able to provide Samuel with a motorcycle for his travels. We are thankful for the day he crossed into Uganda to begin his theological training! He is now a beloved friend and faithful GBTF trainer and church planter. Hundreds are coming to faith in Christ and being baptized and dozens of churches are springing up along these desperately poor refugees.
