Last Day of Food & Farm Worker Week ☀️ It’s time for the USDA to provide equitable disaster relief to the people who feed us all! Big food and ag corporations are some of the world’s biggest polluters. But the working people who grow, harvest, and prepare our food are some of the folks most impacted by the climate crisis. Food and farm workers are on the frontline of extreme heat, wildfires, flooding, and other climate disasters - facing injury, destruction of homes and livelihoods, and even death. Emergency disaster and relief plans often exclude workers completely. That’s why we are fighting for expanding disaster relief, like the Farm and Food Worker Relief Program and disaster protection plans to include all working people on the frontline of the climate crisis! #ProtectFoodandFarmWorkers (fb)

FOOD AND FARM WORKER WEEK Fighting for safety, dignity, and protection for the 28 million working people essential to our survival! No one should have to choose between their health and putting food on the table. Yet, everyday workers across the food supply chain risk their health and safety working in extreme heat to feed us all. As global temperatures continue to rise, extreme heat will be more common and deadly, especially for those working in fields and factories who grow, harvest, process and pack our food. OSHA still has no national regulation to protect workers from the heat. But a recent heat stress bill, if adopted, could change that.
