Loggerhead Sea Turtle Research and Conservation The Savannah Science Museum, Inc. sponsors the Caretta Research Project (CRP), whose mission is to ensure the global survival of sea turtles, with an emphasis on loggerheads in the Northern US subpopulation through research, protection, education and the preservation of the natural ecosystems. CRP is a regional leader in efforts applying cutting-edge science to ensure survival and stability of sea turtle populations and using hands-on educational programs to raise awareness and support for marine conservation.

Conservation Caretta Research Project implements rigorous nest protectionprocedures to minimize direct threats to eggs and hatchlings on Wassaw Islandand increase annual hatchling production. Education Caretta Research Project provides unique experientialopportunities for public participants to volunteer in handson sea turtleresearch and protection during turtle nesting and hatching seasons. Throughout the year CRP also engages and educates a diverse array of public stakeholders in seaturtle conservation toimprove public awareness and support for initiatives toeliminate threats to sea turtle survival.
