We loved connecting with JDF employees, sharing our mission and raising awareness about the impact Mind & Spirit Counseling Center makes right here in our community. 💚 We are grateful for opportunities like this that allow us to highlight the importance of accessible mental health care in Central Iowa, and to meet so many amazing people who share a passion for wellness and community support. ✨ Last week, our Director of Clinical Training, Dr. Heidi Bowden, and MSW trainee Olivia Truini represented Mind & Spirit Counseling Center at the NASW Iowa Chapter’s Annual Symposium, Hope, Healing, and Advocacy: Managing the Personal and the Professional. Here’s what Heidi had to say about the experience: | “I was grateful for the opportunity to represent our clinical training program at the NASW Iowa Chapter’s Annual Symposium. Over the two days, I connected with MSW students, faculty from universities across Iowa, and local agencies to share more about the services we provide to the community, our practicum opportunities, and potential career paths for future social workers. Attending alongside our MSW intern made it all the more meaningful, and it was also a valuable opportunity to recruit new talent to our growing team. | A special highlight was seeing our very own Teri Hughes-Paulline, LISW, facilitate one of Friday’s breakout sessions. Her session took me back to my roots as a young social worker and reminded me exactly why I’m passionate about this work. | Most of all, the symposium was a powerful reminder that, especially in these challenging times, taking care of myself is one of the best ways I can care for others, not just those we serve, but also my colleagues, friends, family, and loved ones.” We’re grateful to NASW - Iowa Chapter for hosting such a meaningful event, and proud of our team for representing Mind & Spirit Counseling Center with heart and purpose. 💙 (fb)
