Lena’s Journey: From Survival to Sanctuary 🌪️🐾💕 At roughly 7 years old, Lena has already lived a lifetime of pain and survival. Before arriving at Wolf PAWS this January, she endured unimaginable conditions. First, at a hoarder’s property with 20 other dogs and wolfdogs crammed into three tiny enclosures filled with mud, waste, and little food. Later, she and her sister were left outside in Florida through not one, but two category-5 hurricanes. The storms left their yard flooded and broken. In a desperate attempt to escape, Lena caught her leg in twisted fencing, a wound that went untreated for over a month and led to a severe infection. Despite it all, Lena still finds the courage to trust again. Since arriving at the sanctuary, Lena has had three veterinary visits and was diagnosed heartworm positive. Something we have been treating since intake with great care and attention. She’s learning what safety feels like: clean bedding, fresh water, daily meals, loving caretakers, and a loyal companion named Orion. Every day she grows braver, now taking treats from those she trusts and is joining in the daily howls with the pack.
