The Kasese Wildlife Conservation Awareness Organization (KWCAO) joins the world in mourning the passing of Dr. Jane Goodall. Her tireless dedication to chimpanzees, to wildlife, and to our shared planet has inspired generations, including our work here in Kasese, Uganda. Dr. Goodall showed the world that compassion, science, and action can transform not only the lives of animals but also the lives of people and communities. While our work is rooted in conservation education, it is deeply shaped by her example. The hope, curiosity, and respect for all living beings that she championed continue to guide and inspire us at KWCAO. "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." - Dr. Jane Goodall (fb)
Turning Plastic Waste Into Hope for Wildlife Kasese Wildlife Conservation Awareness Organization (KWCAO) is showing how plastic waste can be transformed instead of discarded. Young conservation champions collected plastic bottles and water bottle rings from their community, then worked together to create works of art, bags, recycling bins, and even musical instruments. Ronald Thembo, a Primary Five pupil at Rena School, shared, “I have learned that plastic pollution is the biggest threat to the environment, wildlife and people and therefore it’s our role as humans to stop plastic pollution if each person takes up the responsibility on individual basis.” Every piece of plastic kept out of the environment means one less threat to wildlife, who often ingest or become trapped in plastic waste. By teaching children how to recycle creatively, KWCAO is helping to build a generation that values conservation and takes responsibility for protecting the natural world. Together, we can create a cleaner, safer future for people, wildlife, and our planet. (fb)
