The Underwater Society of America, Inc. (USOA) is a nonprofit organization serving as the national governing body for underwater sports in the United States. From the icy Arctic Circle of Northern Russia to the depths of the open ocean, Anastasia Devana has carved a truly extraordinary path. As our official Apnea Coach, she brings elite-level freediving expertise, relentless curiosity, and a passion for pushing human potential. Anastasia is not only an active spearfisher but also a current member of the USA Freediving Team, having proudly represented the U.S. at the AIDA and CMAS World Championships in 2024 and 2025—including most recently in Japan. There, achieved her personal best static breath hold of over 7 minutes. Yes, you read that right—SEVEN. MINUTES!! She’s also set a national record in dynamic bifins. She’s the founder of Blue Beyond Freediving in South Florida, where she trains divers of all levels through: 🌊 Ocean line diving 🏊 Pool-based breathwork & reflex training 🧘 Dry training in breath holds, relaxation, and stretching 🌍 Epic freediving adventures to blue holes and cenotes What makes Anastasia truly unique is her blend of art, science, and athleticism. A classically trained pianist and soprano, she’s performed everywhere from church choirs to heavy metal stages. Before diving deep into freediving, she was a software developer, composer, and audio director—even helping develop smart audio glasses for the blind. Anastasia didn’t grow up considering herself an athlete. But since discovering freediving in 2022 through spearfishing, she has completely transformed her life—and now spends most of it underwater. Her journey is a testament to the power of patience, passion, and purposeful training.
