Fall is a great time to garden! It’s cooler than summer, and even though it tends to be drier than spring, you can still get perennial plants established before the freeze. If you’d like to learn more about planting native species and habitat support, join us on one of our upcoming planting or clean up days! This Saturday, a group of volunteers from The Resilient Activist will be helping us install 100+ plants in our naturalized planting just west of our Labyrinth & Butterfly Garden. Come experience for yourself how working to benefit wildlife and getting your hands in the soil can help combat depression, burnout, and general malaise! Saturday, Oct. 4 is our planting day at the Delta DEED Foundation’s site, the Kansas City Athenaeum, 900 E. Linwood. This native planting is coordinated in conjunction with the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association’s Beautification Committee and the Delta DEED Foundation. These flowers promise to bring a big splash of color to North Hyde Park!! Lastly, Saturday, October 18 is our Fall Clean Up in our Labyrinth & Butterfly Garden. Come learn why we leave the leaves and stems and seed heads in our garden, all winter long! (fb)
