A HUGE thank-you to our volunteers and Board members for making our Afternoon with Buyo Makeup Master Kanda Mitsunaga a resounding success! Held on the beautiful campus of the Pasadena Conservatory of Music on Sunday, June 22, 2025, we hosted 34 Nihon Buyo teachers, dancers, and students for a demonstration and hands-on (or, face-on!) workshop led by the internationally renowned Kanda Mitsunaga, who skillfully and patiently guided the participants. With expert interpretation by Board member Bando Hidesomi, attendees were able to ask technical and culture-related questions related to Nihon Buyo makeup, from the tools of the trade, composition of the makeup, to general practices in Japan. Nihon Buyo Kai of California's goal is to share the beautiful culture and expression of Nihon Buyo, as well as all the cultural arts with which it is associated.
