Welcome from Guatemala. Thank you for your generosity to the ongoing work at New Hope for Guatemala. My dad’s vision of self-sustainable schools has proven to be valid. All the schools are filled with kids being taught by wonderful staff that Dad largely hand-picked – as if he foresaw that his time was limited. That’s the good news. The not-so-great news is that our contributors’ giving is down dramatically for the summer, which we know is normal. We have cut our spending down to the bare bones. Most of the schools do not now depend on us. However, we do have staff and teachers that we must continue to help – at least for the foreseeable future. Also, we have a number of scholarship students whose tuition we must cover until October. Combined with the teachers and staff salaries, I am sorry to say that we're short. Here’s our current budget: 25 El Rodeo school scholarships: $229 2 other scholarships: $214 2 teacher Salaries: $784 Staff salary: $392 Total monthly budget: $1,619 We need your help. As you can see, the cost of living in Guatemala is incredibly low. That’s what’s always been amazing about this mission. We can accomplish so much with so little money.
