Kiera Charley knew from an early age that she wanted to become a space scientist. “My ancestors were always discussing the constellation, their creation and also their significance of how they can guide you,” she said. Her interest in the solar system sparked after a visit to Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, and now, years later, she’s graduating as a Flinn Scholar with a bachelor’s degree in astrobiology. Charley’s academic journey started with a ceremonial blessing at her home on the Navajo reservation. Her next stop is England, where she’ll study astronomy. Congratulations, Charley!
