Today we highight our February 2026 chamber concert because it is the birthday of one of our ED's favorite composers: 20th century French composer Darius Milhaud. He was born on this day in 1892. Milhaud was a prolific and innovative composer and teacher who fled the Nazis in 1940 and settled in Oakland, CA. Milhaud is best known for his use of polytonality - the combination of multiple keys at once - and his use of jazz idioms in his works. His students include Dave Brubeck, Burt Bacharach and Philip Glass!
