On August 7, 1904, Ralph Bunche was born in Detroit. Bunche was an accomplished political scientist, academic, and diplomat. He also became the first person of color to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950. He's pictured here as United Nations Under-Secretary for Special Political Affairs, meeting with residents of Ktima, Cyprus during a tour of the region. On August 5, 1975, Motown Records artist Stevie Wonder signed a $37 million, seven-year, seven LP deal that also gave him full artistic control.
