While miniature baskets are small enough to fit in one’s hand, they hold an enormous amount of technical mastery, tradition, artistry, and cultural knowledge. Plateau baskets (Wa’paas) are specific to the people of the Columbia Plateau, but basketry appears across countless cultures around the world and has been fertile ground for a wide range of artistic exploration. We’re inviting both beginning and experienced weavers who work in any style to enter up to two miniature baskets in the exhibition, By My Hand: Holding Power, to be put on display at the Pendleton Center for the Arts (PCA) November 13 – December 31, 2025. This exhibition is being presented in collaboration with Crow’s Shadow Institute’s Traditional Arts Program. This is a non-juried exhibition and all submitted baskets will be on display in the lighted, secure cases in the Pendleton Foundation Trust Fine Craft Marketplace at PCA.
