Meet Jasela, one of our recent #rachelshugs recipients! Jasela is 12 years old and is described as kind-hearted, silly, happy, and energetic. She loves to do art and spend time with her family, including her 11 siblings, one of whom is her twin! Jasela loves shopping and knew right away that she would love to have a shopping spree to Walmart where she could go with her family and even treat them to something fun while she shops for herself, too. The minute that we walked into her room at the Mary Bridge Children's Hospital Hem/Onc Clinic, she started to smile and while she looked at the gift cards, fuzzy blanket, art supplies, and cuddly buddy, she even did a little dance!💃 Jasela was very excited for her shopping experience and we love thinking about all of the fun things that she got for herself and her family. Meet Roman, one of our recent #rachelshugs recipients! Roman is 6 years old and loves the colors red and blue, being outdoors, fishing, and playing fetch with his dogs. He enjoys Cars, Paw Patrol, and Bluey, and his favorite foods are Lays potato chips, cheez-its, milk, and sweet tea. Because of his love for the outdoors, his parents knew that a family trip to a cabin in a woodsy setting would allow him to hike, fish, and unwind as well as provide time for family bonding. Thanks to a generous donor, we were able to provide Roman and his family with a stay at a beautiful cabin in Packwood, which was right on the water and had everything that they hoped for. We were able to meet up with them after his port removal appointment at Madigan Army Medical Center to gift him a basket full of his favorite snacks, a cozy blanket, s'mores supplies, and money for dinners at the local restaurants before they headed out on their trip. Roman has a smile that lights up the room, and he and his family were so excited for their vacation. Afterward, they provided pictures where you can see the joy that was had on their trip, and that makes our hearts so happy. His mom shared that he had a blast skipping rocks, eating dinner at the lake, playing shuffleboard and soccer, and eating delicious burgers and potato skins. :) She also said that they cherished every moment and that "Roman hasn't stopped talking about it. Thank you for making it happen!" We love knowing that they were able to make so many fun memories and could just enjoy being a family. Keep smiling, Roman! ♥️🐞 (fb)
