✨YOU✨ can help our youngest neighbors access the nourishment they need to grow, play, and thrive! Summer is just around the corner—a time kids look forward to with excitement and energy. But for many families, the end of the school year also means the end of reliable food access for their children. Beginning June 10, our Coralville Summer Lunch Program will provide free meals and activities for local children (newborn to 18 years old) Tuesday-Friday for 11 weeks. Last year, we provided nearly 2,500 meals–this summer, we are expecting higher numbers due to major cuts to childhood nutrition programs, and are prepared to serve 4,000+ meals. “Kids shouldn't have to stress or worry about where their next meal is coming from,” says Shané Ahmedoska, CCFP Family Services Coordinator who oversees the program. “Summer lunch is a program that can help promote healthy development for kids of all ages.” This program couldn't happen without our village of supporters and partners, which includes a long list of local organizations and restaurants--and you! A gift of $20 can cover the cost of lunch for two kids for an entire week. $120 can help support a kid for an entire summer!
