Looking back at 10 years of food rescue: 2021 Edition In 2021, we continued to pivot our work to meet the challenges that came with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the initiatives that were born out of this time remain staples in our food redistribution efforts to this day 💚 🛍️ Launched in October of 2021, the Grocery Bagging Program, in partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh, leverages large donations of fresh, frozen, and non-perishable items from local grocery warehouses to provide nutrition assistance to our communities experiencing food insecurity. After repackaging bulk foods into individual servings, over 500 grocery bags are packed and loaded onto our truck each week to be distributed over various HACP locations. Within 6 months of this partnership launching, we were able to eradicate hunger at HACP sites successfully. This September, we’re celebrating a decade of 412 Food Rescue with a special event designed to honor our journey, recognize our supporters, and inspire continued engagement in our mission.
