Meet Jeremy. A devoted husband, father of six, and outdoorsman from Michigan. After a spinal cord injury sustained from a hunting fall left him paralyzed, Jeremy faced months of recovery. In the middle of it all, he and his wife Emily welcomed twins, bringing new strength and joy into their lives. But their home wasn’t designed for a power wheelchair, making daily tasks overwhelming. Meet Mikayla. In November 2022, Mikayla’s life changed in an instant when she was shot in the neck at a nightclub after her class reunion. The incident left the 29-year-old from Alabama with a C4 incomplete spinal cord injury. A devoted mom to her 6-year-old son, Mikayla once lived fully independently. Today, she relies on help for daily tasks, and limited rehabilitation resources in her state have made recovery even harder. With support from our generous donors, TESF was able to provide Mikayla with a Hoyer lift that makes transfers safer, while easing the physical strain on her elderly mother, who is her primary caregiver.
