Sigma Nu's symbols include the colors black, white, and gold, representing Honor, Truth, and Love, respectively. The fraternity's badge, designed by James Frank Hopkins, features a golden coiled serpent on a black enamel background.
Chapters and Membership
As of recent years, Sigma Nu has chartered over 279 chapters across the United States and Canada, with more than 235,000 lifetime members. The fraternity holds regular conventions, known as the Grand Chapter, every two years.
Notable Achievements
Sigma Nu is part of the Lexington Triad, along with Kappa Alpha and Alpha Tau Omega, all founded in Lexington, Virginia. It has been recognized for its philanthropic efforts, including the Helping Hand Initiative.

ICYMI: Dr. James P. Cousins was officially inaugurated as Kentucky Wesleyan College’s 36th president on April 25. Dr. Cousins has served as president since July 2024 and previously held the role of provost and VP of academic affairs. Thank you to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church for facilitating the inauguration and livestream, The Miller House for hosting our reception, and to all the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends who were there.
